Letter From The President

Hello Neighbors,

I hope all is well with you and yours during these tough financial times. The new tax bill has been mailed. If you have any questions regarding this, please feel free to contact me, Dan at 847-680-7781 and/or Peggy Freese at the Libertyville Township 847-362-3350.

In regards to home improvement permits, please call me first with any questions about the permits before going to the permit office.

With Spring clean up of our yards, comes burning of our yard waste. Please remember to burn only dry yard waste (no garbage), keep the fire fueled and burning hot, and remain with the fire until extinguished. We are one of the few areas were we are still allowed to burn yard waste. Please let's not do anything to lose that privilege.

Finally, and most importantly, I invite one and all to the annual community picnic. There will be plenty of activities, food to eat and friends to see - with games, the chili contest and neighbors, new and old. I'm Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Let me know if you have any questions. Have a safe and very happy summer.

Thank You,

PRESIDENT

Pond Update

Pond Update:

This year we are exploring what is needed for the pond to stop eroding into itself. The Township has been contacted and discussions have started regarding what can be done and what the financial costs will be. We will keep you informed as information comes available.

Mosquito Abatement
NLECA has been informed that the Township has included spraying again this summer in the annual budget for the unincorporated areas.

The mosquito population is a concern for all residents. Mosquitoes can breed in water that is standing for as little as 48 hours. A few options for mosquito control are:

  1. Each household picking up and utilizing the free DUNKS from the Township office. Dunks will be available at the end of May. These can even be used in bird baths and are not harmful to the aviary life.
  2. Mounting bat boxes around the pond or neighborhood.
  3. Residents eliminating stagnant water issues on their own properties.

Pond Clean-Up Day: Volunteers needed

Pond Clean-Up day is To Be Determined. It is usually in May. An email will be sent out when a date is chosen. Neighborhood help is always appreciated for general upkeep around the pond.

Annual Picnic

The neighborhood picnic will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 1:00-5:00pm at David’s Park (near the intersection of Arlington and Des Plaines). Do you have a chili recipe that is something to boast about? Come join the Chili Cook-off!

There will be games for the children and the fire truck will arrive around 3:00pm. Hot dogs, brats and soft drinks will be provided by the association. Please bring a dish to share. This is a BYOB affair, but we ask that NO GLASS be brought to the gathering. If you bring your dogs, please have them on leashes.
