Energy Assistance encompasses two areas, Low-Income Home Energy Assistance
(LIHEAP) and Weatherization, a program designed to aid low-income families by
reducing home energy costs. Weatherization work is done on the homes of qualified,
low-income families. It includes insulating attics, weather-stripping, repairing and
replacing heating systems, caulking, installing storm windows and making other minor
repairs. These improvements are engineered to increase energy efficiency, thereby
reducing the energy needed to heat and cool homes.
